Late Nite Eats: Episode 7 - Atlanta

Welcome to Atlanta

The diversity here was much better than every city we've been to so far! I love the energy of this town. We went to MJQ Concourse for a Wednesday night out and it was amazing - so much fun and great throwback music. Mother's on Taco Tuesday is a great cheap and fun option, and it has Karaoke upstairs that makes any visit that much more fun.

Where I Ate

5Church Atlanta: Amazing front of house design - there's an obvious eye for art and aesthetics here. From the cooks, to the servers, and the owners, the people here are great. Chef Scotley Innis is so cool and funny! Food was classic southern and executed well. The overall restaurant experience was great, with amazing hospitality and good vibes. I'd definitely go here for a night the next time I'm back in ATL.

Food sampled:

  • 5Church Lamb Burger: Red Onion Marmalade, Gorgonzola Fondue, Arugula, Sesame Bun, Hand Cut Fries
  • Pimento Fried Green Tomatoes

Bon Ton: Asian/Cajun mixed restaurant with a unique eclectic decor. Chef Hieu Pham is a fun and talkative creative personality. The people at Bon Ton are friendly and fun - I even went out on the town with this group, and we had an absolute blast!

Food sampled:

  • Sweet & Spicy Cold Noodles
  • After Hours Debris Po-Boy: 5 Different Braised Meats

Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours: This family-run place is probably one of the top 3 restaurants that I've visited on this show so far! Chef Deb (Deborah VanTrece) is fun, vibrant and so charismatic. An absolute must-go if you're headed to ATL. The food is on point, the service is friendly and loving, the ambiance is fun and the drink menu includes moonshine... 'nuff said! Tip: the fried chicken is to die for.

Food and drink sampled:

  • Red Hot Candy Coated Chicken Wings
  • Vegetable Pave: Roasted Tomato Puree, Quinoa Risotto, Parmesan Cheese (Vegan)
  • Ginger Moon: American Born White Lightning, Ginger Syrup, Lemon

My Atlanta Tip

You're going to need a car to get to the fun places, so definitely make sure to rent one in advance of your trip. Interesting fact: all of the places featured in the song "Welcome to Atlanta" are closed... sigh.
